As our furniture business grew and I learned the critical role that quality wood plays in a successful piece of furniture, I became very involved in producing the bulk of the lumber we used in the furniture we were constructing. Over time, buying the logs, having them cut to our specifications, and drying and selecting the lumber became a full time occupation and in 1995 I sold the workshop so that I could concentrate all my efforts on our lumber business.

Our sources are the strength of our business. We have long term established relationships with a variety of suppliers, from loggers, and log brokers and large and small sawmills, to wholesalers, lumber graders, and other small specialty lumber dealers. We buy large diameter and figured logs and have them cut to our specifications, and we work with a number of small independent sawmills that are also willing to cut lumber to our specifications. We hand select all of the lumber that we purchase from the larger mills, and we pay a premium for this privilege to insure that we can maintain a high quality product.
